Rest in His Arms

Zephaniah

My favorite time of the day is when I get to rock my daughter Callie at bedtime. It’s the only time of the day I can get her to be still.

She’s so busy, so full of energy. She goes 90 miles an hour all day long. But at night, she finally settles down and let’s me rock her.

Now, anyone who knows me very well, knows that I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. There’s certainly no American Idol singing career in store for me. But I love to sing to my daughter as I rock her. I sing my favorite hymns or praise songs.

She lets me sing to her and often falls right to sleep in my arms. Nothing is more precious to me than getting to hold my little girl in my arms at the end of each day and rock her.

It might seem silly, but sometimes I ask the Lord to rock me. I picture the Lord sitting in a rocking chair when I read Zephaniah 3:17.

I believe that the Lord desires to rock us.

We go 90 miles an hour all day long.  We exert so much time and energy just trying to make it through the day.

We often come home exhausted, weary, broken and bruised from life’s battles.  We need to slow down, be still, and allow God to rock us.

So today I encourage you to crawl up in your Daddy’s lap. Let Him wrap His big strong arms around you and hold you close.  Oh how He rejoices over YOU!  Allow His everlasting, ever-flowing, ever-enduring love to quiet your soul.

And listen. Listen for His sweet songs. He loves to sing over you. He sings beautiful songs of love, delight, and deliverance.

Rest in His arms. I believe that nothing brings our Heavenly Father more joy than when He gets to rock His precious children.

It’s HIS favorite time of the day too! 🙂

Zephaniah 3:17

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

Since we have been talking about fear this week, this song has been such a blessing to me so I wanted to share it. It is called “No Longer Slaves” by Jonathan David and Melissa Helser. Click on the title and it will take you to the blog and then you can click on the song. It will bless your heart!

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Oh! This is absolutely precious. I love this one – just the thought of my daddy holding me comforts me beyond words. I will remember this one and relish in the thought. Beautiful post – thank you!
