God With Us

Jesus
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”  ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬
Immanuel means “God with us.”
Sometimes I wonder about when God came down to the garden of Eden in the cool of the day to walk with Adam and Eve. Did they walk together every day? How long were their walks? Did they take the same route or change it up on occasion? What did they talk about?

Then I think about that day when God came down and Adam and Eve were no where to be found. I picture Him showing up at their regular time and their regular meeting place. But this time there were no smiling faces to greet Him. He calls out, “Where are you?” Adam and Eve hear His familiar voice from their hiding place. They know in that moment that He knows exactly where they are. It was more than the distance in the garden that separated them. It was a spiritual separation of the soul. Sin had broken that sweet fellowship with the Lord.

But God had a rescue plan in mind from the very beginning. He was going to restore what was broken. He was going to make everything right again. He was going to do it by giving us Himself—Immanuel.

Why? God wasn’t after minions to do His bidding. He wasn’t just wanting us to be on His mailing list. No. He wants us! The God of all creation wants us! He wants to be our Immanuel— God with us. He wants to journey through this crazy garden of life with us. Through the ups, the downs, the highs, the lows, the magnificent, the mundane. He wants to be part of it all. I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it. And there are so many days I take my sweet Lord for granted. But how amazing that our God wants to walk through this life with you and me? And because of our Immanuel, we can! So—question: Have you had your daily walk with Him today?

Don’t miss your daily “garden” appointment with God!
