Marvelously Made

Psalm 139:13-16 (MSG)

“Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;  you formed me in my mother’s womb.  I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!  Body and soul, I am marvelously made!  I worship in adoration—what a creation!  You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body;  You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.  Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.”

I hung out with a friend the other night, so I missed out on bathing my son, story time, nite-nite hugs and kisses.  When I got home, I went in his room pulled his covers back on him, kissed him, and said a prayer.

It got me really considering how creative God is. As Rick Warren says, “Everyone of us is completely different than everyone of us.”  Imagine the implications!  There is no other YOU and there will never be another.  Your children will be like you.  They have your genes, but they are still unique. You are unique.  One of a kind.  God is the only one that could or would do that.  A lesser God could just circulate/recycle the same people every 100 years or so.  We would never know.

His hand is just all over His creation.

According to Wikipedia, here are a few characteristics that are unique to an individual: examples include, but are not limited to fingerprint, palm veins, face recognition, DNA, palm print, hand geometry, iris recognition, retina, odour/scent.  Behavioral characteristics are related to the pattern of behavior of a person, including things like typing rhythm, gait, and voice.  I also looked up what makes the voice unique and it made my head spin.  There are so many variables (including genetics) and moving parts.  And that is just the voice.  Now imagine the other things that were listed and their components. Creativity overload!  That’s a little over kill, right?  Not just one differentiation but multiple for each individual since the beginning!  Phew! He has considered everything.  He doesn’t leave us hanging.
Ever since I heard Rick Warren talking about how each snowflake is unique I’ve been in awe.  Stopped in my tracks.  He makes them different for Himself.  His delight.  We don’t even consider their differences as we trample them under foot.

Now tell me how I can think that He is not as intricate and purposeful about everything else…when we live, where we live, our gifts, talents, purpose?

What can I say?  Praise Him!
