Rick Warren says that when we are dealing with the crazy makers in our lives, we have to refuse to gossip to others about them.  (I have failed many times with this one. As my dad always says, it’s okay to gossip to the Lord. Tell Him about it. We get the best advice from HIM anyway.)

“Whoever conceals an offense promotes love, but whoever gossips about it separates friends.”  Proverbs 17:9

We must refuse to play their game.

Crazy makers love to argue and debate.

“Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.” 1 Peter 3:9

We can’t reason with difficult people because we can’t talk them out of a behavior that they didn’t talk themselves into. They got into that behavior because of an EMOTION not REASON.

They base decisions on their FEELINGS. People are going to think what they think. We cannot change the way they think.

We all have a deep need to be loved. If crazy makers cannot get approval, they will try to get our attention and hook us through CONFLICT.

Thomas Paine said, “To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reasoning is like administering medicine to the dead.”

Proverbs 26:21 says, “A quarrelsome person starts fights as easily as hot embers light charcoal or fire lights wood.”

Walk away. Don’t engage a quarrelsome person.

“Throw out the mocker, and fighting goes, too. Quarrels and insults will disappear.”  Proverbs 22:10
