Everyone loves a good fairy tale. I loved watching them when I was growing up. In fact, I still enjoy a good love story every now and then. My little girl Callie loves to dress up like a princess and dance around the house.
We all long for a prince to walk into our lives and sweep us off our feet. We all desire to be loved and be part of a beautiful love story.
Oh, but we are!
God wrote the greatest love story of all time. He told the greatest fairy tale ever told. And His fairy tale is true. It’s found in the Bible.
A sweet friend of ours gave Callie this precious children’s Bible called “The Jesus Storybook Bible” for her birthday. It is amazing! The first few pages brought me to tears. Each chapter tells how the story of Jesus is woven into all the pages of Scripture. I highly recommend it. And you don’t have to have a child to read it. No judgment here…promise!
I want to share an excerpt with you today. This was such a blessing to me.
“No, the Bible isn’t a book of rules, or a book of heroes. The Bible is most of all a story. It’s an adventure story about young Hero who comes from a far country to win back his lost treasure. It’s a love story about a brave Prince who leaves his palace, his throne—everything—to rescue the one he loves. It’s like the most wonderful fairy tale that has come true in real life. You see, the best thing about this story is—it’s true.
There are lots of stories in the Bible, but all the stories are telling one big story. The story of how God loves his children and comes to rescue them.
It takes the whole Bible to tell this story. And at the center of the story, there is a baby. Every story in the Bible whispers his name. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle—the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together, and suddenly you can see a beautiful picture.”
~The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones
I am in awe of God’s great love for humanity. It always shocks, astounds, and amazes me. God wrote a love letter to us. He is the center of the story, but He invites us to be part of His grand story.
I wonder…how many of us have been waiting for the wrong prince? Reading the wrong romance novels? Watching the wrong fairy tales?
How many of us have been looking for love and fulfillment in all the wrong places?
So put down that romance novel and pick up God’s love letter. Read the greatest fairy tale ever told. Seek Him with all your heart. You will find Him written throughout all the pages of scripture. He is the Prince you are searching for. He is the only One who can truly fulfill and satisfy. He loves you so much that He willingly came to Earth and died in order to have a relationship with you. What a love story!
Oh, how He loves us!
