The Power of God’s Word

I have to go off on a Rick Warren tangent for a sec this morning. This was just so encouraging to me.  He was talking about the power of God’s Word in his Daily Hope podcast.  God’s Word is alive.  When God speaks, things change.  Here is a list of some of the things that God’s Word does:

God’s Word…

Generates life
Creates faith
Produces change
Frightens the devil
Causes miracles
Heals hurts
Builds character
Transforms circumstances
Imparts joy
Overcomes adversity
Defeats temptation
Infuses hope
Releases power
Cleanses our mind
Brings things into being
Guarantees our future forever

Wow! That list gets me excited!  Who wouldn’t want all those blessings?

Rick says that we cannot live without God’s Word.  We should consider it as essential to our lives as food. God’s Word is the spiritual nourishment we must have to fulfill our purpose.

My pastor, Robby Gallaty, wrote in his book Growing Up, “As a disciple, your goal is not merely to get into the Word, but to get the Word into you.” Colossians 3:16 says to “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”

What are you studying in God’s Word this week? What verse or verses are you going to practice memorizing?

Let’s commit together to feast on His Word every day!
