“In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out-until the day it lifted.” Exodus 40:36-37

One of the ways that the Lord dwelt among the Israelites was in the form of a cloud. If the cloud moved, they moved. If it stopped, they stopped.

The Lord wants that same obedience from us today. He wants our dependence to be upon Him. He wants us to obey Him and do what He asks us to do. But I think it’s much deeper than that.

He wants to keep us close to Him. 

When He moves, He wants us to move-near Him.

When He stays, He wants us to stay-with Him.

He never asks us to go somewhere where He will not go alongside us.

 

Let’s allow Him to lead! Our great Leader will never lead us astray. Whatever He is asking us to do, we can be sure that He has our best interests at heart. He can be trusted. He wants our daily dependence to be upon Him-for everything.

And He wants to keep us close-close to His heart!
