“At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!’”
Luke 1:39-45
Elizabeth was such a beautiful encourager! She saw the beauty of Christ in Mary and instead of being jealous of her, she celebrated what the Lord was doing in her life!
What a beautiful example Elizabeth was! We all have our own callings—our own races to run. Yet so many times we are too busy trying to run some one else’s race!
What if we ran our own races with everything we have, and instead of trying to run someone else’s, we cheered others on in their lanes? There’s enough naysayers out there in the world trying to drag us down. Let’s choose be encouragers like Elizabeth! Let’s want the best for others! When others succeed, let’s celebrate their victories. And if we want to outdo someone in something, may it be in showing them honor!
Romans 12:10 says, “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”
Elizabeth was a wise woman and an amazing friend!
The world needs more Elizabeth’s!
You’re so right! The world does need more Elizabeths, and you are absolutely one of them!!
