“He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.” Isaiah 40:29
A couple of years ago, I joined Weight Watchers in hopes of losing a lot of weight to help with my health as well as fertility. I so enjoyed the weekly meetings, and the program really worked well for me. I lost 47 pounds in 6 months. I was able to get off a couple of my medications as well as get pregnant. Now that my son is one, I have really been wanting and needing to get back on track with my eating and exercising. So last week I decided to do my best to start back. I went to the store and stocked up on the items needed to help me stay on track.
I was making my breakfast one morning and measuring out my food, calculating my points and amount of protein. One thing I have learned for sure is protein is the key and empty carbs are your enemy. I sat down to eat my breakfast and started meditating on how just like protein is crucial to keeping us full and satisfied– so is the Word of God the key to staying satisfied and on track!
As humans we need to be filled with the right kinds of foods in order to be strong and satisfied. Likewise, we also need “the meat” of the Word of God to keep us strong and full spiritually.
Just like eating empty carbs will leave us starving for nutrients, the pressures of life will leave us empty and grasping for strength. We cannot overcome the temptations of this world and the attitudes of our flesh if we are weak spiritually.
We will fall prey to Satan and His slick tactics if we are weak and vulnerable.
If we are starving, we might just settle for a momentary pleasure that Satan promises will fulfill when we could have been full, satisfied, and safe in the strength from God’s Word.
Pastor Stephen Furtick says, “Compromises in integrity happen when we get too hungry.”
The verse above says, “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.” We need His power and strength to make it through day-to-day life.
The strength is in the protein! The protein is found in the Word of God and prayer!
We have to partake of the Word and prayer in order to receive His power and strength. We can’t expect to have the strength to overcome temptations and battles if our hearts and minds have not been filled DAILY with His strength and power.
Just like we can’t eat one meal on Sunday and it last us all week, we can’t go to church and listen to one message on Sunday and expect it fill our tank for the entire week.
We have to daily fill up with the Lord and His protein!
I hope you will choose daily to fill up on the protein of the Word of God and prayer so that you can trade your weakness for His power and strength!
Wow….such great comparisons!! Love this, Jasmine…..
